Metallica: Damn it... we still need an intro to get this freakin' song started right. 247 takes already and nothing fits the tune. Let's have a break and continue later with it.
(Everybody except Kirk leaves the room)
Kirk: Phew... finally I can continue to work on the Dionisio Aguado "Study #2 in E Minor." What a masterpiece. I love how the whole etude consists of a relentless right hand forward-reverse arpeggio combination.
It's a real bi$%§ to get those right hand fingers coordinated and the tone even and consistent.
Those classical cats really do need to have their s%&§ together...
Ouch, my left hand hurts. I better stop with it for a minute and just work on the first arpeggio figure where I don't have to finger a note at all.
(The rest of the band enters the room again)
Metallica: What's that? That's cool! That's exactly what we need for this tune. Kirk, you are a genius! Roll the tape....
Kirk: ???
Hey, wait a second...
It's just open strings with a simple forward-backward fingerpicking pattern. We can't use that. It's way too simple. Everybody and their mom will think we are lazy and laugh about us.
Metallica: Who cares.
It's in E minor, it fits the mood of the song, it could serve as a nice introduction and...
